At the Reichstag building in Berlin, where the German parliament sits, the rainbow flag of the LGBT community is flying for the first time in its history. This was reported by the Dpa stating that this morning three multicolored flags were hoisted on one of the towers of the building and in front of two of its entrances, on the occasion of “Christopher Street Day”. This is the day that commemorates the historic revolt of homosexuals against the police aggression in New York in 1969 and which opens the march in Berlin in defense of the rights of sexual and gender minorities.
The parade starts at noon in the city center and ends two hours later. Several hundred thousand people are expected. Last April, the German Interior Ministry authorized the display of the rainbow flag on federal official buildings on certain occasions.
