(ANSA) – BENI, JUL 26 – Three blue helmets of the Monusco peace mission and seven demonstrators were killed in the protests that broke out in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo against the UN peacekeepers in the country. The police reported it.
The killings took place in Butembo, the third largest city in the province of North Kivu, on the second day of demonstrations in which Monusco is accused of weakness towards the armed groups present in the region. The provisional toll is “three deaths among Monusco members, two Indians and a Moroccan”, according to Paul Ngoma, Butembo police chief. (HANDLE).
