After receiving the success of the victory of the ‘yes’ in the referendum on the new Constitution, the Tunisian President Kais Saied received the head of government Najla Bouden at the Carthage palace to discuss the organization of the next parliamentary elections and those of the Assembly of Regions and territories, novelty introduced in the new Constitutional Charter. This was announced by the Tunisian presidency in a note specifying that the organization of these elections, according to Saied, requires the preparation of a special electoral law, hence the need to issue a specific relative decree.
Saied also recalled the prime minister on the need to prepare a decree for the creation of the Constitutional Court, in application of the provisions of the new Constitution. In relation to the controversy over the results of the referendum, disputed by the opposition, the president of the Electoral Commission, Farouk Bouasker, declared on national television that “anyone who questions the announced results has nothing to do but turn to the judiciary”.
