(ANSAMed) – BEIRUT, JULY 29 – After the latest Pixar animated film, Buzz Lightyear, it is up to Thor, the latest Marvel release, to suffer the blows of censorship in several Arab countries due to explicit references to homosexuality.
Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt and Saudi Arabia are the countries that have banned the screening of the film Thor: Love and Thunder for a series of allusions to homosexuality, in particular related to the character Valkyrie played by Tessa Thompson.
In Bahrain the decision was made “to preserve the virtuous values of society”, while in Kuwait it was banned for “the presence of scenes with homosexual characters”.
A similar decision was made a few weeks ago by the Egyptian and Saudi authorities, while the film remained in theaters in the United Arab Emirates.
Here, however, in June Buzz Lightyear was banned. And last April, Saudi Arabian authorities asked Disney to remove all references to homosexuality from Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
