(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, 01 AUG – “A miscalculation is enough for the nuclear holocaust”: this is the warning launched by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, on the occasion of the Tenth Conference of the Nuclear Weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty . “We have been extraordinarily lucky so far. But luck is not a strategy. Nor is it a shield against the geopolitical tensions that lead to the nuclear conflict,” he commented.
Guterres called on nations to “be united in a new path towards a world free from nuclear weapons”.
“The elimination of nuclear weapons is the only guarantee that they will never be used”, was the appeal of the Secretary General, who added that he will go to Hiroshima on the anniversary of the bombing of 6 August 1945 by the United States. (HANDLE).
