Paris triggers anti-drought plan, ‘save water’

(ANSA) – PARIS, 02 AUG – The prefecture of Ile-de-France, the Paris region, appeals to the population to save water: a persistent drought is hitting the area. The departments affected by the anti-drought plan announced by the prefecture are Paris itself, as well as the Hauts-de-Seine and the Seine-Saint-Denis, in the boundless Parisian hinterland. On 25 July, the Seine’s flow passed below the 81 m3 / s threshold at Paris-Austerlitz station.

The level of “drought vigilance” decreed in these areas is the first of 4 levels of drought (“vigilance”, “alerte”, “alerte renforcĂ©e”, “crise”). as well as public administrations and companies are encouraged, but not obliged, to ration their consumption, avoiding the watering of green spaces, washing the car or limiting the domestic use of water. The 96 departments of the French territory they are currently involved in the ” drought plan ‘”decreed by the authorities.
