(ANSA) – ISLAMABAD, 02 AUG – An alliance of separatist armed groups in the Pakistani region of Balochistan claimed responsibility for the shooting down of an Islamabad military helicopter that crashed last night causing the death of all six people on board. The Pakistani army, on the other hand, stated that “according to the first investigations, the disaster occurred due to bad weather”.
The helicopter had been sent to the southwestern region of Balochistan to help rescue populations affected by the floods caused by the monsoon rains. The alliance of separatist groups, Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (Bras), said its militiamen “targeted the helicopter over a mountain range between Windar and Noorani”.
