(ANSA) – KINSHASA, 02 AUG – The death toll in the Democratic Republic of Congo is 36 people following the anti-UN protests that took place last week in the eastern part of the country. Government spokesman Patrick Muyaya said this, stating that four blue helmets were killed in the riots that broke out against the Monusco peacekeeping mission, accused of weakness towards the more than one hundred armed groups in the region.
Muyaya also provided the toll of “nearly 170” injured people. These latest figures update last week’s upwards, which reported 19 people killed. (HANDLE).
