France: 27 departments on hot orange alert

(ANSA) – PARIS, 02 AUG – The torrid heat wave is gradually spreading over the territory of France. According to reports from Météo-France, tomorrow there will be a total of 27 departments placed in orange supervision, 22 more than today. Most of these departments, the French equivalent of the provinces, are concentrated in the east and south-east of France. The peak heat will be reached tomorrow, with maximum temperatures “often above or equal to 35 ° C with peaks at 39-40 degrees”, Météo-France specifies. Among other things, 41 departments are placed on yellow alert.

An improvement in terms of temperatures is expected from Friday. Yesterday, Météo France announced that July was the second driest month since 1958 and today the newspaper Le Monde headlines: “July 2022, a historic drought in France”.

In the Ile-de-France, the Paris region, citizens, as well as public administrations and companies are encouraged, but not obliged, to ration their water consumption, avoiding the watering of green spaces, the washing of the car or by limiting its domestic use. (HANDLE).
