(ANSA) – NDJAMENA, 05 AUG – General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, head of the military junta of Chad, took off today for Qatar to close a possible peace agreement with the rebels, in a key step for the restoration of civil government. This was announced by the presidential office.
The plane with the general on board left the airport of the capital Ndjamena in the late morning. Diplomats and negotiators in Doha had previously said that Déby and opposition groups would sign an agreement on Monday, paving the way for rebels to participate in inclusive national dialogue in the future of the African country.
