Among the areas affected by the alarms, those of Ashkelon, Yavne, Ashdod, where the population has fled to shelters.
Islamic Jihad announced that it had fired “100 rockets” from Gaza tonight at Israel, and specified that this is only the beginning of its reaction to today’s Israeli attack. Israeli military sources, quoted by public television, have confirmed for the moment “dozens of launches, over 40”.
So far there is no news of casualties in Israel. According to Israeli media, only Islamic Jihad has fired from Gaza tonight, while Hamas has not participated in the fighting for now.
“Today’s operation in Gaza was directed against concrete threats that had upset the routine of our civilians in the south,” said Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid. “Israel does not want an extended military campaign in Gaza, but neither does it fear it,” he added. (HANDLE).
