Only three men in the family managed to escape the flames unharmed.

Ten people, including three children, died this Friday, 5th, after the house where they lived in the city of Nescopeck, Pennsylvania, United States, went up in flames, state police said in a statement. One of the most shocking circumstances of this fire is that the dead were relatives of one of the firefighters who worked to extinguish the flames, according to the local newspaper “Citizens’ Voice”. Firefighter Harold Baker told the paper he didn’t realize he was going to help his family members until the fire truck rounded a street corner and saw the house. Among the dead, whose bodies are still being recovered, are Baker’s son, daughter, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, three grandchildren and two other relatives. The deceased minors were five, six and seven years old, said police, who said they had opened a criminal investigation into the fire. State police received the alert about the fire in the house at around 2:30 am (local time, 4:30 am Brasília time) and, upon arriving at the scene, had difficulty accessing due to the enormous flames and the heat. Three men managed to get out of the house safely, but the three minors and seven of the adults were trapped by the fire. The causes of the fire are still being investigated and police are questioning who managed to get out of the house in time.
