HANOI – Four people have died and four others are missing following the heavy rains caused by cyclone Mulan in northern Vietnam.
According to data provided by the National Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of Natural Disasters of Vietnam, the province of Hoa Binh was the most affected, with three of the victims and two of the missing, a hundred houses damaged, dozens of streets and more. of a thousand hectares of rice fields that have been destroyed. The other provinces involved are Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Yeb Bai, Thanh Hoa and Phu Tho, where the fourth victim was found.
Difficult situation also in the area of ​​Hanoi, in particular in the district of Ba Vi, both as regards the flooded fields and the roads that are unusable or damaged. Remediation companies have relentlessly monitored the situation by putting drainage pumps into operation to reduce flooding and monitoring the levees.
In the central highlands, in the province of Dak Lak, tropical storm Mulan flooded over a thousand hectares of fields, causing a loss of nearly a million dollars.
The Vietnamese Community Disaster Prevention Fund has delivered 151 rainfall measurement stations to thirteen northern and central provinces of Vietnam, which will allow for better analysis and forecasting of natural disasters by sending data directly to the provincial steering committees.
