Spain: fires, flee from train surrounded by flames, injured

(ANSA) – MADRID, AUGUST 17 – Serious fires are active in the Valencian Community, eastern region of Spain. In particular, according to the local press, there is concern about a fire that broke out near Bejís, north of Valencia, as a result of which some towns and a campsite were evacuated. In addition, three firefighters were injured while participating in the firefighting work, while another 13 people suffered injuries and burns yesterday when the train was blocked by the flames and panicked, they got off the train.

Meanwhile, a large fire is also active further south, in the Ebo Valley (Alicante): the flames, which forced the evacuation of about 1,500 people, have already burned over 11,500 hectares. The hope is that the increase in humidity expected over the next few hours will help contain it. (HANDLE).
