(ANSA) – ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 24 – The death toll from monsoon rains in Pakistan has exceeded 900 after another 73 people have died in the last 24 hours. This was announced in the evening by the National Disaster Management Authority (Ndma), specifying that the monsoon rains have also injured 1,293 people since mid-June.
Southern Sindh and northwestern Balochistan are the most affected provinces, with 293 and 230 deaths respectively.
The floods caused by the rain have also deprived thousands of people of their homes.
According to the latest data from the authority, 710 animals were killed in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of dead cattle to 708,098.
Rescue activities are underway in the affected areas, while the Pakistani Meteorological Department has forecast more rain in the next 24 hours. (HANDLE).
