Syria: Erdogan reiterates his intention to attack Kurdish forces

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated his intention to launch a military operation against the Kurdish forces that control some areas of northern Syria. “I declare once again to the whole world that our struggle will not be over until we secure our southern borders with a 30 km deep corridor,” Erdogan said according to Anadolu. “We will continue operations according to our country’s priorities regarding security. We could arrive overnight suddenly and we can go anywhere,” added the Turkish president.
At the end of May, Erdogan had announced military action in Tal Rifaat and Manbij, areas of northern Syria still under the control of Kurdish forces that Ankara considers terrorists. After the announcement, the operation was never initiated.
