(ANSA) – BERLIN, AUGUST 25 – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz boarded a Gepard panzer today during his visit to Putlos, in northern Germany, where Ukrainian soldiers are being trained in the use of German self-propelled anti-aircraft. In this way, images of Scholz made the rounds of the media, first climbing the large vehicle, with the help of a ladder, and then entering it to be explained how the panzer works.
Scholz reiterated German support for Kiev: “we will continue to support them, with our financial possibilities, but also with the weapons that can be made available by Germany”.
A few hours later, speaking to the citizens in Magdeburg, Scholz however recalled that the shipment of weapons to Ukraine will remain “considered and carefully considered”, in order to support Kiev but avoid any kind of escalation. The chancellor recalled the principle, shared with the allies, of sending only weapons that do not allow to hit Russian territory. Dpa reports it. (HANDLE).
