Canadian Ambassador Golberg at the March for Kiev in Rome

(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 25 – Yesterday, August 24, the Ambassador of Canada to Italy Elissa Golberg participated in Rome in the March for freedom organized by the Ukrainian embassies in Italy and at the Holy See and by the Christian Association of Ukrainians in Italy, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Independence.

“Canada and Ukraine enjoy a special relationship,” said Ambassador Golberg. “On December 2, 1991, Canada was the first Western country to recognize Ukraine’s independence. Since then, Canada and Ukraine have enjoyed a close bilateral relationship, strengthened by cordial interpersonal ties, rooted in the Ukrainian-Canadian community of 1 , 3 million people. Following the unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Russia last February, the Government of Canada is one of the major players on the international scene actively engaged in providing support and solidarity to the Ukrainian people “.

“Canada – concluded Ambassador Golberg – therefore remains firm in its commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine”. (HANDLE).
