Pakistan: 69 deaths in 24 hours due to floods

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 26 – At least 69 people have died and 113 others have been injured in the last 24 hours in Pakistan due to the floods caused by monsoon rains that have caused thousands of displaced people in different parts of the country.

According to the latest figures from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the death toll from rain is 982, while another 1,456 were injured.

In the past 24 hours, 8489 homes were completely damaged. Since June 14, the cumulative number of fully and partially damaged homes has reached 6,82,139.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, severe thunderstorms are expected in several parts of the country in the next few hours. Rescue and assistance activities are still ongoing in the areas affected by the country’s floods.
