Breivik had already filed a lawsuit against the government in 2016

Anders Breivik, responsible for the deaths of 80 people at a retreat in Norway, in 2011, is suing the local government for ‘human rights violations’ to end his solitary confinement in prison. Breivik’s lawyer said no one should be subjected to torture or “inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”. Since his conviction in 2012, he has been in prison isolation. During a hearing last January, Breivik attended a hearing where he gave Nazi salutes and expressed views of white supremacy. The court recognized that Breivik must remain in prison and if he is released he could be a potential threat and commit another massacre. In 2016 he also sued the government and won for not having access to other prisoners, being subjected to regular searches and being handcuffed for frequency.
