The Italian Film Festival (IFF 2022) returns to Singapore and this year – from 14 to 25 September – celebrates its twentieth edition. It is presented by the Italian Embassy in Singapore, which for the occasion wanted the participation – in the presence – of the Manetti Bros. (Marco and Antonio Manetti), with their “Diabolik” as the opening film.
“Italian cinema” declared Ambassador Mario Vattani “is rapidly evolving, and with this year’s Italian Film Festival we wanted to tell it this way. It will be a very wide selection of the latest successes of Italian cinema.
We will open with the Manetti Bros. who will come to Singapore. Thirteen films, for almost two weeks the Singaporean audience will be able to enjoy the best of our cinema with action, noir, drama, comedy, and we also wanted horror. “In fact, the Singapore Film Festival will count on an excellent selection – of the most famous Italian masters, from Giuseppe Tornatore to Sergio Castellitto, Mario Martone, Paolo Genovese, Dario Argento, and then Jonas Carpignano and Giuseppe Bonito.
“Thanks to the growing curiosity of Singaporeans for Italian cinema”, explained Vattani, “this year’s Italian Film Festival is also a tribute to the efforts of the new generations of directors and producers, which is why we wanted them here with us, also to find new opportunities in a very rich market “. In fact, Gabriele Costa and Gianni Russo, the producers – with their Piano B – of the highly acclaimed documentary “Ennio” by Giuseppe Tornatore, will also be present in Singapore.
The screenings of “Diabolik” and “Ennio” will be followed by meetings with the public, moderated by the President of the Singapore Film Society, Kenneth Tan.
And then there will be the meetings in the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Film School, the School of Film & Media Studies, and the Puttnam School of Film and Animation (in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Media and Creative Industries of Lasalle) with many representatives of the local cinema. (HANDLE).
