(ANSA) – ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 28 – The death toll from monsoon rains and floods in Pakistan has reached 1,033 dead and 1,527 injured, according to the official government budget. Among the dead there are also 348 children and 207 women.
In the past 24 hours 119 people have been killed and another 71 injured in accidents caused by rain and floods. Monsoon rains have damaged 949,858 homes since June 14. The rivers in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have overflowed and the waters are now moving towards the provinces of Punjab and Sindh. Rescue activities are continuing at full speed throughout the country. (HANDLE).
