Dozens of new flights were canceled today arriving and departing from major Portuguese airports due to a strike at the baggage handler Portway, according to unions and the company owned by the airport manager Ana, of the French group Vinci.
On the third and final day of the agitation, called for wage increases, 69 flights were canceled at Lisbon and Porto airports, Portway management said.
“During the three-day strike, the turnout was 14% and airlines canceled a total of 196 flights,” he added.
Among the twenty airlines affected by the strike, the most affected was the low cost Easyjet. The inconveniences were also not lacking in the ports of Funchal, on the island of Madeira, and of Faro and in the tourist region of the Algarve in the south of the country.
