Moscow, Kiev still fires on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant
(ANSA) – MOSCOW, AUG 28 – The Russian army has accused Ukrainian forces of having attacked the area of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant again in the last 24 hours. Interfax reports it.
“In the last 24 hours, two cases of bombing by artillery units of the Ukrainian armed forces on the ground of the nuclear power plant have been recorded,” announced the Russian Defense Minister, Igor Konashenkov. “A total of nine bullets were fired, of which three fell near the special building No. 2, where the new nuclear fuel of the TVEL company is stored, as well as solid radioactive waste,” he said. The fragments of the bullets damaged a network of pipes, he added.
“During the second bombardment, one bullet fell near reactor 6 and five more in front of the pumping station of unit 6, which cools the reactor,” Konashenkov stressed. According to Moscow, the Ukrainian artillery fire came from an area near Marivka, a village in the Dnipropetrovsk region about ten kilometers from the plant. (HANDLE).
