A Swiss couple fell on the equivalent of 20,000 euros in a parking lot in the canton of Valais, in the Swiss federation. But instead of taking the jackpot, these two good Samaritans returned the money to its owner, a mute old man. The latter gave 500 Swiss francs to the couple as a reward.

For this mute old man, the story is like a Swiss Christmas miracle. Two Good Samaritans gave him back the 20,000 francs in cash (nearly 20,300 euros) that he had lost in a parking lot. The man had gone by car to an ATM in Martigny to withdraw this large sum of money, said the police of the canton of Valais in a press release. Once he got home, he realized that the money was missing and went to the nearest police station to report a theft.

“A beautiful story of civic honesty”

But, the money had not been stolen! He was found in the parking lot where the old man had parked his car, the tickets neatly stored in an envelope with the extract and even the home address. “The couple went to the home of the unfortunate old man in order to return his money in full,” the statement said. To reward the good deed, the old gentleman, a little head in the air, but grateful, gave 500 francs to the couple. “A beautiful story of citizen honesty lived in our canton, a story which it was worth sharing with you on this first day of Advent”, rejoices the Valais police.
