Covid-19 ranked as highest alert level by WHO since 2020

THE World Health Organization (WHO) initiated discussions on lowering the alert level on the Covid-19. A WHO source told the German newspaper DW that no decision will be announced before Monday, the 30th, but that the Organization’s Emergency Committee has already met to discuss the fact. They meet every three months to discuss the coronavirus crisis. Currently, the pandemic of Covid-19 is classified as a “public health emergency of international concern”, the highest alert level. Last month, German virologist Christian Drosten claimed that the “pandemic is over” and that the virus has become endemic, meaning infection rates either not increasing or decreasing significantly. However, the China continues with a large death toll from Covid-19 with more than 170,000 deaths reported in recent weeks.
