Bus crash in Peru kills at least 20 people
A bus fell off a cliff early this Saturday, 28, in the region of piurain the north of Peru. According to local authorities, at least 24 people died in the accident, one of the fatalities being a Haitian national. Police officers who arrived at the scene told the press that the incident took place in an area with difficult driving, known as “Curva do Diabo” and that they are waiting for the Public Ministry to identify the dead and injured. The vehicle from the company Q’orianka Tours left Lima and was heading to Tumbes, on the border with Ecuador, but left the track in a desert area in the town of Órganos, when there were about 260 kilometers left to reach the destination. In all, 60 people were in the vehicle. The injured were taken to hospitals in El Alto and Máncora, popular summer resorts in Peru, on the way to Piura, about 1,000 kilometers north of the capital.
