Device was detected in Costa Rica, Colombia and Venezuela after being seen in US airspace
The Pentagon is in contact with the Latin American countries through which the “Spy Balloon” from the Chinaas said this Monday, 6, the president of the U.S, Joe Biden. Asked whether Washington has been in touch with its allies in Latin America, Biden replied: “The Department of Defense, yes, not me.” The Pentagon announced last Friday, the 3rd, that it had detected another Chinese “spy balloon” over Latin America and, this Monday, the Chinese government confirmed that the device was its property and that, unlike the United States, countries Latin Americans “understand” that it does not “represent any threat”. The countries where the device has been detected are Costa Rica, Colombia and Venezuela, according to different sources. The “spy balloon” crisis worsened on Saturday, 4, after the US shot down, by direct order of Biden, the Chinese device that had been flying over the country for several days. In response to the maneuver, China expressed deep “dissatisfaction and protest” for considering that Washington “exaggerated” in using force to shoot down the device that was flying over its airspace. The discovery of the first of these “spy balloons” in US airspace triggered a diplomatic crisis between Washington and Beijing and led to the suspension of the trip that the Secretary of State, Antony Blinkenplanned to go to the Asian country last weekend.
