The president of U.S, Joe Bidenasked this Tuesday, 7, for unity in the country to “rebuild America” in a speech by the state of the Union to a Republican-controlled House of Representatives. “The people sent us a clear message. Fighting for the sake of fighting, power for power, conflict for conflict, gets us nowhere. And that has always been my vision for the country: to restore the soul of the nation, to rebuild the backbone of America, the middle class, to bring the country together,” he said. He also stated that the democracy Americana “remains adamant and unshaken”. “Two years ago, our democracy faced its greatest threat since the Civil War”, he commented in reference to the invasion of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. “Today, although bruised, our democracy remains inflexible and unshaken”, he added.
