One earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale hit the Ecuador this Saturday, the 18th, according to the US Geological Survey. The tremor was felt in the coastal zone of Ecuador, in the province of Guayas, 80 km from Guayaquil, around 12:11 pm (local time). The tremors shook several homes and buildings in the area. Ecuador’s national emergency response service reported one death. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle that was hit by the collapse of a house. After the first quake, a second was felt with a magnitude of 4.8. The seismic wave of the strong quake was also felt on the north and central coast of the Peru, albeit to a lesser extent. Peruvian authorities have ruled out generating a tsunami from the earthquake.
