Blaschak stated this during a meeting with the residents of Olecko. He stressed that the Poles must be ready to fight for their country, reports “Polish Radio”.

“If we disarm Poland, then we will become the trophy of an aggressive neighbor. Of course, we are in NATO, but we must understand that no one will defend Poland instead of the Poles. Of course, we will receive support, because that is how it is, we are in solidarity with each other , but we must remember that it is our duty to defend Poland,” Blaszczak said.

He stressed that this is not about war, but about deterring the aggressor.

“No one here wants to go to war, but it’s about holding back the aggressor,” Blaszczak added.

The official said that in April the construction of a military unit in Oletsk would begin.

By the way, Poland has begun the largest rearmament in the last 50 years. This is done by a retaliatory threat from Russia. The state intends to increase defense spending this year to 4% of GDP, and the number of troops in the future will be about 300,000.

So, by 2035, Poland plans to spend about $100 billion on weapons.

By the way, Olecko is located 139 km from the city of Belarus, an ally of the Russian Federation, Grodno.
