The Constitutional Court of Armenia published a decision by which adopted the ratification by the State Parliament of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The obligations enshrined in it were recognized as consistent with the Constitution of the country.
It is reported by News Am. The decision of the Constitutional Court “On resolving the issue of compliance with the Constitution of the obligations enshrined in the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court” was published on Friday, March 24. It is final and takes effect from the moment of publication.
Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court is an international treaty. It empowers the Court to consider international crimes as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, crimes of aggression, etc. At present, this is the only mechanism for bringing to justice at the international level the Russian dictator Putin and the leaders of the so-called. “LNR” and “DNR” for crimes committed in Ukraine.
To date, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court has been signed and ratified by 122 states around the world. They are obliged by all means to make the decisions of the ISS. That is, if Vladimir Putin appears on the territory of one of these countries, he must be arrested and handed over to The Hague for trial, according to the decision.
Armenia’s ratification of the Rome Statute means that it is now also has the right and obligation to comply with the decision of the International Criminal Court to arrest the Russian dictatorif it appears in the country.
As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, earlier Armenia abandoned its quota of the CSTO Deputy Secretary General. Thus, the country continues to distance itself from the aggressor country Russia and the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a military-political bloc led by the Russian Federation.
