(ANSA) – NEW YORK, 02 NOV – Reverend Jesse Jackson, leader of the movement for the defense of civil rights in America, was hospitalized after hitting his head following a fall. The activist, 80, was at Howard University in Washington, a historic African-American university, for a meeting during which the poor conditions in which many university rooms and student dormitories are found should also have been discussed.
According to Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the organization he founded, Jackson fell as soon as he entered the campus.
He was immediately taken to the hospital where he is still being observed. It is not the first time that his health conditions cause concern. Last August he and his wife Jacqueline were hospitalized due to Covid. In November 2017, Jackson declared that he had Parkinson’s disease, as did his father before him. In 1984 and 1988 he participated unsuccessfully in the Democratic presidential primaries. (HANDLE).
