Al Jazeera reports that more than 20 rockets were fired at the US Syrian base in response to these airstrikes. Artillery fire was opened by the Syrian military, in addition, Iranian-made UAVs attacked US military facilities.
The rockets hit a house near the base, causing two women and two children to be slightly injured, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said.
US President Joe Biden commented on these events. “The United States does not seek conflict with Iran, but it is willing to act decisively to protect its people,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to The Jerusalem Post, pro-Iranian forces in Syria are threatening to launch new strikes if the US attacks their facilities again.
“We have the ability to respond if our centers and forces in Syria are targeted,” the statement signed by Iran’s Advisory Committee for Syria said.
