On the evening of March 29 The Pope was rushed to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome. The reason for hospitalization is respiratory infection
This was reported by the Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera. The hospital stay is expected to last several days.
The publication notes that Francis arrived at the hospital in an ambulance. He had heart problems and respiratory failure.
According to a Vatican press release, the Pontiff is suffering from “a respiratory infection (with the exception of Covid 19 infection) which will require several days of appropriate medical treatment in the hospital.”

In recent days, Francis has complained of some breathing difficulties.. In particular, the Pope began to feel chest pains immediately after the general audience in St. Peter’s Square, when he was already at his residence, Casa Santa Marta. His personal nurse, Massimiliano Strappetti, advised him to go to the cardiology department for an examination.
Tests showed a respiratory infection. The disease is considered not to cause concern. Computed tomography of the Pontiff’s chest gave a negative result, which is also regarded by doctors as a good sign.
Francis, 86, recently gave an interview on Swiss television and was asked how he feels after ten years of pontificate.
“I am old. I have less physical resistance, the knee causes physical suffering, even if it is now healing well,” said the Pope.
Francis had health problems in his life. At the age of 21, due to severe pneumonia, he had the upper lobe of his right lung removed. Already at an older age, he developed sciatica, and several years ago he underwent cataract surgery.
For about a year, the Pontifex also suffers from knee pain, which forces him to move around in a wheelchair or with the help of a cane.
As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, the Pope announced his readiness to visit Kyiv, but on the condition that he would also visit Moscow.
