U.S. Embassy in Brazil postpones visa price hike to June 17

The Embassy of U.S at the Brazil postponed the visa price increase by two weeks. The change was supposed to take effect this Tuesday, the 30th, but has been rescheduled for the 17th of June. The measure continues to apply to all categories, from those who need to travel for business or tourism, to students and exchange students. As informed by the US Department of State, the increase will take place to cover the consular services offered, since the current values ​​would not be covering the high demand for the documents. The last readjustment had been in 2012 and, although prices may be steeper, they are still below what was suggested by the agency at the end of 2022. . Despite this increase, the 2-year residency requirement waiver fees for exchange visitors will remain at $120. Currently, the queue to get an appointment for a US visa has reached a new record: 610 days waiting time in São Paulo. The delay has made Brazil the seventh country in the world that suffers most from the delay in issuing a US visa, behind Colombia, Haiti, Mexico, Nepal, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. São Paulo is the 10th city in the world with the longest waiting time.
