Backstab? Pashinyan said that Armenia is not an ally of Russia in the war against Ukraine

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that his country is not an ally of Russia in the war against Ukraine. He also expressed concern about the “conflict”.

This was reported by the Armenian service of Radio Liberty. “This has never been said out loud, but I think it shows: in the war with Ukraine, we are not an ally of Russia. And our feeling from this war, from this conflict is anxiety, because it directly affects all our relations,” Pashinyan said.

According to him, there seems to be a way to navigate between all these collisionsbut it is also true that the more difficult the situation, the more narrowed the possibility of maneuvering.

“We maneuver not because we have no opinion about the situation, but because we, unfortunately, have too many worries, which does not allow us to be more involved in solving other worries,” he explained.

It should be noted that the 102nd Russian military base is still located in the Armenian city of Gyumri. 2010, her tenure was extended until 2044. There is no question of paying for the lease of the base, “everything is free of charge.”

In January of this year, a protest rally was held in Gyumra near the Russian military base. The protesters, who planned to cordon off the Russian base, called their action “Blockade for the sake of breaking the blockade.” They demanded that the Russian peacekeepers, who took responsibility for the smooth operation of the Lachin corridor in both directions, fulfill their obligations in accordance with the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020.

Let us add that in 2015, the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin called the damage by Turkey, which he also considered his ally, the Russian Su-24 military aircraft, as a “stab in the back”. After Pashinyan’s statement, the reaction is likely to be similar.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, Yerevan said it had no plans to arrest and hand over the trial in The Hague of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. According to the Armenian authorities, the ratification of the Rome Statute “had completely different goals.”
