The heads of the world’s leading intelligence agencies held a secret meeting in Singapore – Reuters

As part of the Shangri-La Dialogue conference in Singapore, high-ranking officials about two dozen of the world’s largest intelligence services held secret meeting. It took place this weekend (June 3-4).

This was stated by Reuters, citing five different sources. Among the countries present were Chinadespite growing tensions in his relationship with America.

Anonymous interlocutors of the agency said that such meetings are organized by the Government of Singapore. and have been discreetly held for several years in a separate location next to the security summit. There was no information about this before.

One source said the secret meeting was “an important item on the international shady agenda.” And it was not a “festival of skill”, but “a way to promote a deeper understanding of intentions and outcomes“.

A spokesman for the Singapore Ministry of Defense said Shangri-La Dialogue participants, including senior intelligence officials, “are also taking the opportunity to meet with their counterparts.”

The Singapore MoD, a spokesman said, “could facilitate some of these bilateral or multilateral meetings.” He assured that the participants recognized the event as “useful”.

Although there are few details about specific discussions in Singapore, Friday’s talks featured Russia’s war against Ukraine and transnational crime, added a person familiar with the matter. On Thursday evening, the intelligence chiefs held informal meeting.

According to one of the sources, there was no Russian representative. Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Volodymyr Gavrilov attended the Shangri-La Dialogue but said he did not attend the intelligence meeting.

Another source said that the tone of the meeting was general and cooperative rather than confrontational.
