China: 11th, critical moment for the renewal of the nation

(ANSA) – BEIJING, NOVEMBER 12 – China is grappling with a “critical moment” to bring about the renewal of the nation and the “resolution” on the 100-year history of the Chinese Communist Party approved yesterday by the Central Committee serves to “unify the thinking and to strengthen the party’s confidence in the future.

President Xi Jinping, first and foremost secretary general of the CCP, said that “today’s world is undergoing changes never seen in a century and our country is in a critical moment to bring about the great renewal of the Chinese nation”, according to to the report made by the official Xinhua agency.

Xi spoke today in Zhongnanhai, the communist leadership district next to the Forbidden City, participating in a symposium that involved representatives of non-communist parties in China. Xi, in his first engagement after the Plenum, added that it is “of great importance” to promote the entire party to lead the country and to the victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, according to the ideological contribution of Xi written in 2017 in the Constitution of the party and the People’s Republic.

The Sixth Plenum, which closed yesterday after four days of work, approved a “historic resolution”, the third of its kind in the 100-year life of the CCP, raising Xi’s status to the level of great leaders like Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.
