Le Parisien, ‘buying a house in the banlieue more expensive than in Rome’

(ANSA) – PARIS, NOV 19 – In an investigation page, the newspaper Le Parisien compares the prices of houses in the main European capitals, underlining not only that in Paris you pay more or less 5 times the price of Rome, but that even living in La Corneuve, in the deep Parisian suburb, is more expensive than in the center of the Italian capital.

At the top of the market is London, with 14,977 euros per square meter for houses in the city, according to the site specializing in real estate, Meilleurs Agents. Paris follows with an average of 10,377. All the others are very far from Berlin (4,331) to Lisbon (3,660). Madrid (2,917 euros per square meter) and – last – Rome, with an average price of 2,833 per square meter (in La Courneuve or Saint-Denis, very popular areas of the Paris suburb, the average price is 3,087 EUR).

The Italian capital is also the only one, compared to the others, going against the trend: a minus sign in the last 5 years (-6.7%), while the others are all growing. Paris sets a record with + 27% since 2016. (ANSA).
