(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 21 – The death toll in British Columbia has risen to four, where three other bodies were found swept away by landslides caused by the intense rains of recent days: the coroner of the province announced yesterday , as reported by the Guardian.
A fifth person, added medical examiner Lisa Lapointe, is still trapped due to a landslide and so far the rescue teams have not been able to reach her.
“This has been an incredibly difficult year for all of us in British Columbia, and my heart is with the many families and communities that have suffered tragic losses,” commented Lapointe.
About 14,000 people have been forced to flee their homes following evacuation orders in the Canadian province. (HANDLE).
