(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, NOVEMBER 22 – The Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, calls on the European Commission to suspend all infringement procedures concerning dossiers on migration and borders. In a letter to President Ursula von der Leyen, the Hungarian premier urges the freezing of procedures that “would prejudice the actions of the member states aimed at protecting their territorial and national integrity, as well as the safety of their citizens”.
“In the light of the urgency and the serious crisis” on the borders with Belarus, Orban invited Brussels to “propose the adaptation of the regulatory framework to the new realities” and to “stop the application of the obsolete and obstructive rules in force”, referring to the conclusions of the leaders’ summit in October.
