Week of Italian cuisine, historic menus in Mexico

(ANSA) – MEXICO CITY, NOV 22 – Mexico formally joined today in the celebration of the 6th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World with the presentation of various events in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, the Chamber of Commerce Italian in Mexico, the Dante Alighieri Society and the Institute for Foreign Trade (ITA).

Gastronomy, notes a statement from the Italian Embassy in Mexico City, “also represents art, culture and awareness of the origin of traditional flavors”.

As part of the program of events, typical menus of the periods that have marked the history of Italy will be presented, and this year, among other initiatives, in homage to Dante, “a gastronomic evening with recipes from his era will be offered” .

The 2021 edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine was presented in Mexico by Ambassador Luigi De Chiara who wanted to underline how “the current mitigation of Covid infections will allow the return to presidential activities to make the Mexican public aware of the features of authentic Italian cuisine and support the growing consumption of Italian food products in Mexico, also with the increasingly important key to the sustainability of food production “.

The rich program of events also includes the final of the Mexican Pizza Championship, a “historic” dinner dedicated to the anniversary of Dante’s death, specific events related to ice cream, borage and authentically Italian wines.

Finally, there will be a “sensorial” dinner organized in the Dante Alighieri headquarters, numerous show-cooking events and the presentation of Italian products and brands organized in virtual mode, and lastly a scientific conference to discover the effects of Covid19 on taste and smell. (HANDLE).
