BRUSSELS – At least 150 European regions and communities can become climate resilient by 2030 thanks also to 368.3 million euros in initial funding during the period 2021-23 by the Horizon Europe program. This is the mission dedicated to climate, one of the EU objectives for 2030, illustrated today by the European Commission together with the European Committee of the Regions.
“These missions must become an integral part of the recovery of Regions and cities, building on strong local leadership”, said the chairman of the Committee, Apostolos Tzitzikostas. “The Committee is ready for a key role in EU missions to bring new solutions and technologies to every region so that no place is left behind.” The mission will begin working with 60 or 100 regions between 2021-23 and will continue with at least the others in the following years. From now interested local authorities will be able to express their interest on the Commission’s dedicated portal.
