(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, NOVEMBER 30 – The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Ecdc) will monitor the response to epidemics by states and will be able to provide national authorities with recommendations for improving it. It is one of the new prerogatives of the EU agency based in Stockholm, according to an agreement between the European Parliament and the EU Council, which renews and strengthens the ECDC mandate.
Through the agreement, the ECDC will coordinate the harmonization of data collection, validation, analysis and dissemination procedures at national level, create and manage databases for epidemiological surveillance and work on developing approaches to produce comparable data across the country. ‘EU. Monitoring, gap analysis and recommendations about the ability of national health systems to deal with epidemics are also foreseen.
