Germany bans almost all arrivals from Portugal and Russia

Portugal and Russia were added on Friday by Germany to the list of “variant” countries, which bans almost all arrivals from these two states on German soil. People admitted to Germany will also be forced to respect a two-week quarantine, even with a negative PCR test.

Germany added Portugal and Russia to its list of “variant” countries on Friday, banning virtually all arrivals from these two states. From Tuesday, only German citizens or permanent residents of Germany will be allowed to enter the territory from these two countries, since rail, air, road or sea transport companies are prohibited from transporting other types of passengers.

People admitted to Germany will be forced to respect a two-week quarantine, even with a negative test for Covid-19.

Variant Delta

Portugal and Russia are recording a sharp increase in cases of contamination with the Delta variant of the coronavirus, which initially appeared in India and is much more transmissible. Fourteen countries were already in the high risk category, including Great Britain, India and Brazil.
