Honduras: Xiomara Castro most voted president in history

While voting is still underway for the presidential elections held in Honduras on November 21, the media in Tegucigalpa today unanimously claim that leftist leader Xiomara Castro is the most voted presidential candidate in the country’s history.
The National Electoral Council (Cne) has announced for its part that when the counting of the votes reached 83.97%, the candidate of the Partido LIBRE, and wife of former president Manuel Zelaya overthrown by a coup in June 2009, it collected 1,462,166 votes, equivalent to 50.49% of the total.
His main opponent, mayor of the capital and candidate of the conservative Partido Nacional (Pn), Nasri Asfura, is instead attested to a quota of 1,043,603 votes (36.04%).
Castro’s inauguration as president, which is currently in the hands of the controversial Juan Orlando Hernández, involved in drug trafficking and money laundering processes in the US, is scheduled for January 27, 2022.
