In the waters of the Baltic Sea, the Polish border service detained the Russian ship Ruslana. The dry cargo ship was making dangerous maneuvers, and the crew, consisting of citizens of the Russian Federation, was drunk.

This is stated on the website of the department.

“The ship is currently anchored. The inspector of the State Port Inspectorate of the Maritime Administration of Gdynia, with the assistance of the officers of the Border Guard Service, inspected the ship. What is known?

On the night of December 3–4, a Russian-flagged vessel en route from Klaipeda to the Northern Port of Gdansk left the designated fairway and did not answer calls. According to the information of the department, the dry cargo ship also did not answer the calls of the port captain.

“Our services notified the Maritime Border Guard Department, which was asked for urgent intervention due to the high likelihood of creating a threat to maritime navigation and the risk of grounding in the area of Sobieszewski Island.”, – the message says.

In addition, a subdivision of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service was sent to the scene. After some time, contact was established with the vessel, which was sent to the anchorage of the Severny Port.

It is noted that the officers of the Kashubian border division “went aboard and checked the crew’s sobriety.” Three crew members, including the captain, were intoxicated.
