(ANSA) – ROME, DEC 13 – The Mozambican branch of the French oil and gas multinational, TotalEnergies, has returned to the northern province of Cabo Delgado by opening an information office in the city of Pemba, as reported by the BBC. The move comes nine months after the suspension of its activities due to insecurity in the region following a jihadist attack last March in the nearby city of Palma, in which dozens of people were killed.
The information office aims to facilitate communication between interested parties in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) exploration project in the Rovuma basin.
Laila Chilemba, an official of TotalEnergies, said it will solve the complex problem of communication between the different groups involved in the project, while the local governor welcomed the decision of the multinational.
