Covid: WHO Europe, ‘we cannot tackle a pandemic alone’

(ANSA) – UDINE, 02 JAN – “It is too late to prevent a fourth wave in Europe, we have lost this opportunity. There are many lessons to be learned, but the only lesson to be learned must be that we cannot face this pandemic and any future health emergency alone “. This was stated by the regional director of WHO Europe, Hans Henri P. Kluge, in an interview with Ansa, commenting on the health situation in the Balkans and the approval of the “Roadmap for health in the Western Balkans (2021 – 2025)” , in Budva (Montenegro) on 3 December by WHO Europe, Ince, and Ince countries of the Western Balkans. A document through which the countries involved will initiate actions to improve health systems and efficiency standards, inspired by the principles of cooperation and solidarity.

“The Western Balkans Roadmap for health and well-being – explained Kluge – aims to bridge the health gaps between the Western Balkans and the European Union. As regional director – he added – I will fully support this region to increase the expectation of life and health literacy, decrease infant and maternal mortality, expand access to universal health coverage and train health workers, using health to improve stability and ensure prosperity for the people of the region. ” (HANDLE).
